Research Assistant Professor: Jared J. Tanner, Ph.D.

Jared Tanner

Dr. Jared Tanner earned a Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Psychology with an emphasis in neuropsychology from the University of Florida. He completed a psychology internship at the Duke University Medical Center. He is a Research Assistant Professor within the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology. His research interests involve verbal memory and structural brain MRI in neurodegenerative disorders as well as following major surgery.

He is particularly interested in understanding how white matter connections between brain regions change and how white matter integrity is related to cognition and memory. His research involves cross-disciplinary collaborative work. Jared’s recent research has been focused on assessing morphometric properties of subcortical gray matter in aging and neurodegenerative diseases, understanding functional brain MRI changes in older adults after major surgery, and improving neuropsychological assessments through the addition of normative neuroimaging. Jared is heavily involved in managing and processing MRI data.
